The Sydney Food Sisters came to life in 2016 when long term friends and business associates, Caterina Sterrantino and Effi Tsoukatos, joined forces to create a forum for people to come together to celebrate the wonderful offerings of Sydney’s food, wine and culinary culture. Their inspiration for creating the business came from their common love of food, wine, eating and cooking, as well as their extensive background in event organisation, styling and management.
With 25 years of experience between them, organising and managing food, wine & culinary events is their passion. Together they have organised an array of gastronomic events for their subscribed food-loving followers, as well as their corporate clients. Their bespoke events have ranged from truffle tours in the Southern Highlands, long lunches in vineyards, and cooking classes amongst olive groves.
Since its inception, the business has expanded into food photography, food writing and recipe development. When Caterina and Effi are not masterminding their next event, you will likely find them busy with aprons on and styling props sprawled across the span of their test kitchen and photographic studio. Developing recipes using seasonal produce and ingredients, styling food scenes using their antique finds, and capturing them photographically has now become a large part of the business. This talented duo has worked with some of Australia’s leading food and lifestyle brands to develop recipes, photographic and written content. While Caterina specialises in recipe development and food styling, Effi focuses on food photography and writing.
In 2018, they were honoured with the Sydney Markets Fresh Award for Blogger of the Year, and since then their business and lifestyle website has flourished. Caterina and Effi relish in telling stories using words and photography, most of which are conceptualised while doing their favourite thing together - enjoying a meal and drinking a glass of wine, in their favourite Sydney restaurants, which they frequent often.
